Michelle Klopp

Michelle joined the Tryon Equine team in 2003 as a veterinary technician. She got her first pony at age seven and has been working with horses ever since. Her background includes working at event barns, traveling with a farrier and starting several young quarter horses. In her free time she loves hiking with her Jack Russell, Mckenzie, and showing her Irish Sport Horse, Abe, and participating in hunter paces. She really enjoys taking lessons with him to get ready for upcoming shows. Her special interests include the Thoroughbred racing world and spending time with her mini, Lucky Charm, who while not showing she drives.  When not spending time with her horses, she enjoys spending time in her flower garden and nature.

Josie Thompson
Josie is originally from Little Rock, Arkansas and grew up eventing. She graduated from the University of Arkansas with a bachelor’s degree in Biology with a concentration in Wildlife. Josie first came to Western North Carolina to teach riding at a summer camp in Zirconia; she loved the area so much that she stayed! Josie began working for Tryon Equine in August of 2001. She has done a little bit of everything at TEH from truck technician to OR tech to Anesthesia. Currently Josie is also responsible for keeping all the hospital’s equipment in working order and serves as a liaison with MREquine and Eklin radiology systems. She says she loves her job because you never know what is going to happen day to day and it keeps life interesting. When not at work, Josie loves to ride, hike and play outside. She also enjoys “herping”, and is always interested in talking about reptiles and amphibians! Josie has an ongoing love for her camp horses and enjoys riding and caring for them year round. She also has a beloved flock of chickens and has recently acquired a hive of bees.

Linda Parish
Linda joined TEH in 1997 where she serves as an anesthesiologist and lab technologist. Linda started her career in human medicine as a registered Medical Technologist specializing in parasitology and blood banking. She obtained a post graduate degree in immunohematology and was a Head Blood Bank Technologist for many years. She moved to Campobello, SC in 1985 and went to work for Red Fox Veterinary Clinic where she worked with both large and small animals. She enjoys the challenge and diversity of her work and feels it is a privilege to be part of such a talented and dedicated staff. Linda is a Graduate A in Golden’s Bridge Pony Club and has served as a national instructor and rater, and was DC of her Pony Club. She is a certified instructor for NARHA (North American Riding for the Handicapped). During her riding career she has enjoyed fox hunting, competing in 3-Day and Dressage. Over the many years in the veterinary field Linda has served as a mentor and supportive teacher to many technicians and students who have benefited from her great depth of knowledge of medicine and horses and her generous spirit.

Eanna Walker
Eanna joined Tryon Equine in the fall of 2010. She graduated from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College with an Associates of Science in Veterinary Technology in 2009. She acquired most of her equine knowledge and handling skills working at Camp Glen Arden for their summer riding program in Tuxedo, NC. She’s lived in the Tryon/Columbus area for the past 10 years. In her spare time she enjoys painting, drawing, being outdoors, and enjoying good company.

 

Janice Fishman
Janice FishmanJanice joined the Tryon Equine team as a veterinary technician in August 2013.  When growing up and given the choice of riding horses or ballet, she of course chose  horses.  She graduated from Rutgers University with a bachelor’s degree in Biology.  Janice has mostly worked with Thoroughbreds from breeding farms, the racetrack, and breaking and galloping young horses.  She also spent two years as a veterinary technician in Florida.   She is originally from Baltimore and enjoys rooting for both of her hometown teams, the Ravens and the Orioles.  In her spare time she likes to go hiking, biking, and enjoying nature.

Jamie Martell
Jamie MartellJamie joined the Tryon Equine team in 2014 as a Veterinary Technician.  She is a 2008 graduate from Bridgewater College in VA.; where she obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Allied Health. Jamie has always had a love for horses. She started riding at the age of five and received her first horse for her 10th birthday. She was always very active in Pony Club where she obtained a “B” rating and is a certified Horse Management Judge. She is a member of USEA, actively competes in the Eventing world and has completed a One Star.  To stay competitive in Eventing; she completes in local Dressage and Jumper shows. She has a special love for “Off the track” thoroughbreds. When she’s not working or competing, you’ll find Jamie on a trail ride or hiking with her German Shepherd

Lee Ann Harmon
Lee Ann Harmon imageLee Ann joined the TEH team in September of 2014.  She grew up riding  Hunter Jumpers locally in Rutherford county.  She attended Virginia Intermont College on an equestrian scholarship where she studied Equine Science.  She has also taken coursework in Business Management form Isothermal Community College.  She has competed internationally on the USMGA Internat'l Team in Australia, England and Wales.   Since her schooling she has worked as a barn manager and a veterinary technician.  In her spare time she likes to go riding on one of her 5 horses.

Stacy Tapp
Stacy Tapp imageStacy joined the Tryon Equine team in 2005, where she now serves as our Practice manager. Stacy is a native of upstate South Carolina. She attended the University of Georgia and received a BS in Equine Science and a minor in Agribusiness in 1999. Following graduation, she became a certified riding instructor for the handicapped and worked closely with three counties’ special needs schools in the Augusta, GA area. She led the state’s Equine Special Olympics there for three years. Her career then led her to the Dept. of Agriculture’s Equine Division based out of Atlanta, GA. After 2 years of being an equine inspector over 13 counties, she was promoted to the Assistant Manager of the State of Georgia’s equine division at the state’s capital. She enjoys running, traveling and spending time with her husband, David, and their little girl, Ivey, who was born in 2011.

Virginia Maclure
Virginia MaclureVirginia was born and raised in Greenville, SC but came to live in Landrum for good in 2002, when she started working at Tryon Equine.  She graduated from the University of South Carolina (USC) with a degree in Business and is married to Paul, who also went to USC. Her loves are horses, dogs, books and cooking (oh and Paul!).

Rachael Bradley
Rachael TessmerRachael joined Tryon Equine Hospital in August of 2012. Her love affair with horses started at age 11 when she started working off her riding lessons at a farm on the outskirts of Detroit. As a graduate of the Horse Management program at Michigan State University, she had the opportunity to participate in internships and hold a variety of positions in the Hunter/Jumper industry. She moved down to the Carolinas with her beloved thoroughbred, Mister, in January of 2011 to expand her horizons and has loved every minute of her time here. Working at Tryon Equine allows Rachael to help people and their horses which is what she enjoys most. Aside from riding her horse, Rachael enjoys drawing, teaching lessons and hiking with her dog.

Colleen Wilson
Colleen WilsonColleen recently joined the Tryon Equine team July 2015. Colleen decided to get back in the equine veterinary business after taking a 15 year hiatus. During that time, she started up her own tack store where she worked for many years. Colleen has always had a love for horses, and her first job was working for a syndicate that bought horses for the Canadian Three Day team. This job enabled her to ride some wonderful horses.  Now, during her spare time, Colleen helps take care of the 70+ hounds she and her husband look after at their kennel at the Green Creek Hounds. Her husband Tot is a Master + Huntsman for the Green Creek Hounds Fox Hunting Club.

Dain Canter
Dain CanterDain joined the Tryon Equine team in November 2015. He grew up around horses in the Hendersonville NC area and has spent several years working as a veterinary technician at veterinary hospitals in Kentucky and California. When he isn't working, Dain enjoys rock climbing, photography, and being in the mountains.

 

 

 

Mike Riordan
Mike RiordanMike joined the Tryon Equine team in September 2015. Mike is originally from New Jersey where her love of horses started at age 6. Mike started riding and showing American Saddlebreds through her teen years, spending summers on her family’s working dairy farm in New York State. After she and her husband Tim raised their two sons, they moved to Florida where they lived for 15 years. In 2009, they followed their sons to the Upstate, where Mike has reignited her passion for horses. Mike’s spare time is spent enjoying her six grandchildren, her two dogs Sami and Lilee and riding her Percheron/Thoroughbred friend ‘Opie’.

 

Sue Gruber

Sue began riding at the age of 10 after that horses was all she wanted to do. Sue worked for lessons by working at the local barns when she reached high school Sue began working for Paul Valliere as a working student. It was at Acre's Wild were she learned a great work ethic with horses. Sue attended college at Centenary College in Hackettstown, NJ. After college she began working on the "A" circuit, grooming, managing and riding for trainers like Mark and Peter Leone and later a few private amateur riders. After years of travel and many back issues Sue and her husband decided to settle in Wellington Fl where she joined Palm Beach Equine clinic. Sue concentrated on all aspect of equine care. In 2012 Sue and her husband welcomed their daughter Kendall. With a new family Sue and her husband decided to get back to a quieter lifestyle and move back to more of a country setting to raise their daughter. In July of 2016.  They moved to Polk County and Sue joined our team at Tryon Equine Hospital.

 

 

 Brittany Cocuzza                         

Brittany joined Tryon Equine in June 2016 following completion of a degree in Veterinary Technology from Alfred State College in Alfred New York. Brittany is originally from New York, where she grew up riding and competing in various disciplines including cutting, reining, working cow horse, western pleasure and horsemanship. Outside of work, Brittany enjoys riding her two quarter horse mares, running with her chocolate lab, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
