Tryon Equine Hospital P.L.L.C

Dr. Anne Baskett and Dr. Meghan Breen are both certified acupuncturists and they look forward to providing this service to you and your horses.

Acupuncture works by accessing specific parts of the body where larger nerves and vessels are concentrated closer to the surface. Needles inserted at these points can result in the release of various neurotransmitters such as endorphins and serotonin that can help alleviate pain and modify disease states. Acupuncture is a valuable tool that can be used on a variety of cases. Examples include:

  • Head Shakers
  • Arthritis
  • Sore Backs and Necks
  • Sarcoids
  • Respiratory Conditions
  • Non-sweaters (anhydrosis)
  • Muscle Atrophy
  • Allergies
  • Poor Performance

An exam is performed to determine whether or not acupuncture is useful to help your horse. Acupuncture cannot treat every condition, particularly surgical diseases such as colics with twisted bowel. It can be a very valuable treatment for many conditions used alone or combined with Western Medicine or chiropractic work. Please call with any questions and find out if acupuncture may be right for your horse
